VIKING assists on judging panel for The Business of Enterprise scheme in Kent

10 May 2010

Students from across Kent showcase their proto-types, marketing plans and some excellent presentations as part of their Social Enterprise.

At the beginning of the year, students from across Kent were challenged to come up with a new enterprise and then present it to a panel of judges made up from local businesses in May. Each business idea had to fall under one of the 4 basic categories - Manufacturer, Wholesaler/Distributor, Retailer or Service Industry. Teams of 6 has to assume the roles of a normal company and come up with a business plan to get their new creation on the market. This included everything from a marketing plan, to researching the client base and finances. Everything needed to be covered and then a presentation put together ready to be judged.

Some of the ideas to date have been edible cup cake cases, bio-degradable bubble gum and a fashion app for the i-pod which won the in-school round and will now go forward to the finals in July taking place at Pfizer Ltd.

From what we have seen so far the students have all done very well and we wish the finalists the best of luck.
