Qualifications on Completion

At the conclusion of the initial training the successful trainee will have attained:

Foundation Degree (FdSC) in Marine Operations & OOW Certificate of Competency - Deck
Foundation Degree (FdSC) in Marine Engineering & OOW Certificate of Competency - Engine
Other industry recognised qualifications are also available including HND (Higher National Diploma) or Scottish equivalents.

There is a national shortage of Officer Trainees (Cadets) within the marine industry largely due to a previous lack of advice, guidance and information on these careers and their prospects. Hence it is a good time to apply if you have the predicted examination grades and qualities that are needed.
